Who doesn’t love Christmas?
Between the cosy films, jolly music, twinkling lights, delicious food and everything in between, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year. And now that we’ve officially hit December… it’s time to get really excited.
My family has so many traditions this time of year, and I cannot wait to dive into them now that the festive season is finally here.
So, without further ado… here’s what I’m most looking forward to this Christmas🎄✨
My Advent Calendar!🍫
Okay… today is the day — advent calendar season officially begins!
It has finally arrived and I am so excited for this one. I have nailed my choice this time.

Starting my annual re-read of Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol‘👻
Although me and my dad don’t have many traditions, we always make time for one thing: watching The Muppet Christmas Carol together in December.
It’s our thing — and it wouldn’t feel like Christmas without it.
We’re actually such big fans, that last year I treated him to the Northern Ballet performance of the story in Leeds as a present 🎁🩰
Worth.👏🏼 Every.👏🏼 Second.👏🏼
And on top of this, I re-read Dickens’ iconic tale every year before our movie night. It’s genuinely one of my favourites — yes, I know I sound like a full-on English Literature student, but what can I say? I unironically adore Charles. What a guy.
Now that December is here, I’ll be picking it up again after its 12-month rest, ready for our annual watch party. And just like every year… I’m genuinely excited.
The story captures the true heart of Christmas for me — even if we’re no longer living in the Victorian era, and not at risk of being visited by ghosts… right?!
I might know every line and every twist, but what do we think:

Me and my mum, on the other hand, have a LOT of Christmas traditions — and one of them is… well, a little untraditional.
We always go to Skegness for the day.
And honestly? It’s one of the highlights of my entire year.
It usually starts with full-on carpool karaoke for the whole drive there, followed by our annual struggle to find the car park.
Yes, it’s the same one every year. And yes, it still manages to hide from us. Every. Single. Time.
Then comes dinner. You might be thinking “Oooo, fish and chips by the sea, right?”
Wrong.
Every year without fail, we head to the same pub by the pier. I’ve known it under what feels like ten different managements, but no matter what, we must go to The Jolly Fisherman.
Cheap and cheerful food, very bog-standard Christmas decorations, and toilets that feel like they are miles away from your table — what more could you want?
After that, it’s time for the traditional wander around the wonderfully tacky seaside shops, followed by a go in the arcade. We always collect tickets, hoping to win something incredible, and we always end up complaining about the rubbish prizes. It’s part of the charm at this point.
Ahh… it truly is one of my favourite days of the year. Roll on Skeg-Vegas! 😂
My First ‘proper’ Work Christmas Party💙
Now that I’m officially a corporate girly post-uni, the iconic Work Christmas Party is something I’ve never experienced before… but something I am really looking forward to.
And get this — it’s at THE Ivy.
Yes, the new one in Nottingham. I’m finally going to try it! 🥳
I’ve already picked out my three courses (of course I have), and I can’t wait to share the full rundown of them with you on the 3rd… or maybe the 4th, depending on how long the night ends up being 😂
I’ve met such a lovely group of people at work, and I’m genuinely looking forward to sitting down with them for a proper meal — as an actual adult employee. (Yes, it still baffles me to say that.)
Here’s to good food and company, and celebrating the end of a great first year in the working world.
Christmas-Themed Runs 🎅🏼🏃🏻♀️
It may be freezing. It may be slippery. It may be the exact kind of weather I’d much rather run from than run in… but none of that changes the reality:
Christmas-themed runs are officially HERE — and I couldn’t be happier.
If it wasn’t already one of my favourite things to do, it one million percent is now.
So, what’s on the cards this month?
First up, there’s a Christmas-themed half marathon around Holme Pierrepont on the 21st December — which I’m trying to hype myself up for.
As part of marathon prep, the plan is to run to the start line, complete the half, and then run back home. (And no, I’m absolutely not thinking about the horrid weather I must face😭…)
Then of course, the iconic Christmas Day parkrun. A festive little 5k that me, Mum, and Mike adore. Nothing beats a quick Christmas morning run followed by a big brekkie and a glass of Bucks Fizz. Pure magic🥂
I’m also tempted to do something around New Year’s… still deciding! If anyone knows of any good local events, send them my way.
Watching the All-Time Greatest Christmas Films 🎥
This time of year calls for one universal tradition in every household: curling up and rewatching all of our favourite Christmas films. And for me, there are three that aren’t just favourites… they’re practically a religion.

Don’t argue with me — these are the elite three.
(And yes, I know Bridget can be watched all year round… but Christmas gives me the perfect excuse for yet another rewatch.)
Honestly, there’s nothing better than wrapping yourself up in a blanket, hot chocolate in hand, and sinking into the sofa to watch a film you know off by heart. Pure festive bliss.
