Welcome to my new series: Back Home, Back Cooking — your go-to meal-guide spot for those nights when you just… canny be bothered.

These meals are super simple, surprisingly fast, and require next to no kitchen skills whatsoever. Absolutely perfect for post-uni life… trust me.

So, struggling with the what on earth do I have for dinner? question again?

Well, let me introduce you to Sweet and Spicy Gammon🍖

As simple as this: grab a gammon steak (which, FYI, is cheap and delicious), pick up either an ordinary or sweet potato (dealer’s choice), choose something green for health, and finish filling your trolley with a tin of juicy pineapple and a bottle of sriracha.

Say – for argument sake – that you picked these bits up from Tesco.

It would all cost only £7.23, and be enough for two meals, plus leftover potatoes and sriracha to use again.

Sorry, but… bargain alert.

And the best part? Making it is even easier than buying it.
BONUS.

Start with your potatoes.
Peel and boil for mash OR cut them into chips/wedges and whack them in the oven or air fryer. Completely up to you, what you choose.

Next, heat a little oil in a frying pan.
Gammon cooks fast — around 5–10 minutes on each side is perfect.

Sort your greens: boil, steam, microwave… whatever takes your fancy.

Then plate it all up.

Top your gammon with pineapple chunks and a drizzle of sriracha for the perfect sweet-and-spicy combo.

Top tip: Why not add a fried egg if you’re feeling fancy? It’s a classic.

And that’s it — genuinely as easy as that.
